My Story
Hello! My name is Madison Bryant (she/her), and I grew up in Huntington Beach, CA. I am a soon to be graduate at Sonoma State University with a Women's and Gender Studies Major and a minor in Sociology.
Going into college, I had no idea what kind of studies I wanted to pursue. In the spring of my freshman year, I decided to take the WGS Intro class and for a couple of weeks, everything was normal. And, suddenly, we were in the middle of a pandemic! Even through these frightening and unpredictable times, it gave me the time to think about what I wanted to do with my life: how I could use my my studies and in my future career. In this way, Women's and Gender Studies called out to me, and has been one of the most formative choices in my undergraduate career. This field has taught me so much about other people, what I know about myself, what I can accomplish, and what I really value in my life. WGS has given me the opportunity to discover what I really love: helping and understanding people.

Following my graduation, I will continue to work and save up money to continue on to a Master's program. WGS is something I use every day and such a large part of my identity, especially being a queer woman of color.

Outside of education, you can find me creating art, whether it be painting with acrylics, crochet, or learning how to use a Cricut machine. You might also find me with my nose in a book, my current favorite being The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid.
